With easy access to arguably the most interesting and historic city of the world, this friendly group was formed in 2000 to find out more about London. We take it turns, individually or in small groups, to choose, plan and lead the monthly walks, dates of which vary. There are currently 8 groups who meet on different days.
London Walks 5 group’s February walk
London Walks 5 group’s February walk (dubbed “My Sweet Lord[s)]) took us round St John’s Wood, past residences once owned by BIlly Fury and Macca (Paul McCartney), Lord’s cricket ground, Micky Most’s RAK recording studio, Sir Thomas Beecham’s former residence and after visiting the inevitable Beatles souvenir shop, finishing with a photo opportunity (taking our lives in our hands) on the iconic Abbey Road crossing.

LONDON WALKS 1 Time to think about Exploring London.
As the original London Walks group with the title Explore London on Foot, we are intending to start up again, probably in the Autumn. We will be having an informal meet up on Friday 4 June at 10.30 am to discuss how we go about venturing out into the world. We are looking to attract new members and if you are interested in joining us please contact me. As our original title suggests we explore all areas of London on foot, although we do use the underground and buses to get to our destinations from the mainline stations. Members, usually in pairs, research and prior walk different areas to put together an interesting day of walking and sight seeing along the way. We usually set off on the train about 10.00 and finish around mid afternoon, hopefully before the trains get too busy. Lunch is usually taken somewhere convenient along the way, either a cafe or pub or buy sandwiches and have a picnic if the weather is fine. The group was formed about twenty years ago and we have an archive of the walks we have taken which can be used for inspiration as we are happy to revisit an area as there is always something new to find. London is forever evolving and changes happen very quickly which makes it exciting to keep exploring. Please contact me if you would like to join us for our meeting on 4 June and explore our interesting and wonderful capital city in good company. Ann Marsh email@example.com or 01732 669077.
A scrapbook of London Walks 5
It may well be a while before London Walks 5 group will be venturing onto a train, so we’re very grateful to Keith Morgan who has produced this wonderful scrapbook of some of the London locations we’ve visited over the years. We can’t wait to add to these memories soon.
