The Spanish Civil War 5 week short course given by Kate Izzard

Kate has a great love for history and this was evident in her style of presentation.  Over the five weeks, Kate looked at the build-up to the war, the progress and the outcome.  She carefully positioned all the players and the improbable alliances, so that we felt we had discussed all the relevant information when we had questions in later sessions.  As someone to whom this subject was completely new, I found the course informative and fascinating.  Unlike school history lessons, I didn’t find myself looking at the clock and I even remembered relevant material from week to week!  Kate had done a lot of work in preparation with different types of source material, and she showed professionalism in the way she handled the statistics and the propaganda.  I feel I have grown, not only in the subject knowledge, but also in the methods of historical research.
