There are still places available for the U3A AGM on 7 October.
It was the writer L.P. Hartley who once said “the past is another country – they do things differently there” and I think that many of us will have seen the truth of this when we think back to the beginning of the year which now seems truly a foreign land. It was then that the Journal reminded us that 2020 marked the 20th Anniversary of Tonbridge U3A and we looked forward to discussing at our regular meetings what our contribution might be, blissfully unaware of the life-changing forces gathering strength on distant shores.

This is to give formal notice of TU3A AGM for 2020. Because of the exceptional circumstances this year and the uncertainty of the situation going forward for holding large meetings, it has been decided that the TU3A AGM for 2020 is best held by members voting by post or e-mail. This means that essential business can be transacted, and the Committee can plan ahead with more confidence. (This supersedes what we have said earlier about holding our AGM as a ‘live meeting’ – we apologise for this change of plan, but you will appreciate that the goal posts are constantly changing!)
When we eventually get back to some form of normality we will do our best to get some outings booked. Those that had to be cancelled will be discussed by the Travel Team at our first meeting. Next year’s programme will be liable to change, so read the Journal to keep up with any new plans that appear.
The committee has decided to cancel the Open Afternoon this year.
Castle Cars are offering a free taxi service for elderly and vulnerable people living in Tonbridge and Hildenborough from 07.00-09.00 on Thursday to take them to Sainsbury’s.
