History and Geography
We are a group with a wide variety of eclectic China related interests. Topics ranging from the Chinese Language to the country’s forestry industry, New members are welcome.
Our interest is church architecture and history. We investigate clues that help us understand how the church and surroundings evolved.
Beginners, for those starting their family history or those unfamiliar with recent changes in accessing records; Intermediate, to progress members’ family history beyond basic experiences; and Advanced, for those who have covered the basic sources of information from the census and civil registration and are hoping to go back beyond c1837.
Our basic theme is the Geology of the UK, as well as some international areas of interest. For theory structure and sequence, we try to follow the syllabus of the OCR (Oxford & Cambridge & RSA) A-S level Geology course. Our main focus is Practical Geomorphology to study the processes that result in the Landscapes & Landforms that surround us
For those with a genuine interest in History, members participate in questions, comments & discussion.
There are two groups. We each take turns in doing research and presenting a topic or leading a walk. We learn about our locality and discuss local memories.
This is an open group and any Tonbridge U3A member is welcome at meetings. We watch and discuss programmes about some aspect of world affairs, past, present or future.
For people interested in our industrial past and what can still be seen of it in the world around us. Meetings are either talks, or visits to places of industrial history interest.
